After an unsuccessful goose hunt, a young girl grapples with seeing her father in a new light.
When I was a young girl, my sister used to tell me stories about goose hunting with my father.
My sister and my father’s relationship was a complex one. She was always seeking his approval, even when she knew his expectations went against what she felt was right. She wanted so badly to make him proud. But at the same time, she loved animals, and the last thing she wanted was to harm them.
After years of this internal struggle, she finally decided she was no longer going to hunt. This is what inspired the story of “Paper Geese.”
